Representatives from the Province of B.C. met with First Nations and residents of Castlegar and area about the future of the Columbia River Treaty (CRT) at Selkirk College on Wednesday night.
The session including an open house with pictures and diagrams of the Columbia River, a discussion with experts, dinner, and a consultation workshop.
The treaty, which was signed in 1964, is an international agreement between Canada and the United States to coordinate flood control and optimize hydroelectric energy production on both sides of the border.
