Crime hits Castlegar business hard

Truck-full of expensive equipment stolen from Castlegar business

A high-value heist occurred over the course of a couple of recent dates, leading to the disappearance of a one-ton pickup loaded with pricey equipment.

According to a press release from Corporal Debbie Postnikoff of the Castlegar RCMP, the crime was committed "Sometime during the evening of February 21, 2014 and the early morning hours of February 24, 2014."

Corporal Postnikoff's report outlined the incident which took place in the 100 block of Hughes Road in Castlegar, "Investigation has revealed that the rear steel door was pried open. Suspects gained entry into the business and stole a truck that was parked outside the bay area.  The truck was loaded up with rivet tools, generators and various other expensive tools, and then it departed the scene."

Police are reportedly looking for a 2007 White Ford F350 Crewcab with a tidy tank and dry box. The truck wore no license plates at the time, but bore lettering on the side doors reading "Maglio Installations and B40."

Police ask the public to report any information they may have concerning this break, enter and theft to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or the Castlegar RCMP at 250-365-7721.
