Crime Unit seizes six ounces of marihuana in Castlegar

On Feb. 7 at 10 a.m., members of the Castlegar Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant issued under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence in rural Castlegar.

An adult male and female were arrested at the scene without incident. The search of the residence revealed a growing operation that had been recently dismantled, along with approximately six ounces of packaged marihuana bud.

Nathan Blaine DEAN appeared today in Castlegar Provincial Court and was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance. DEAN was sentenced to 90 days in jail as a result of this incident.

The adult female arrested with DEAN during this incident is to appear in Castlegar Provincial Court in March.

DEAN was recently also convicted on Jan. 24 of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking for which he received 90 days jail resulting from a search of a residence in Rossland on Jan. 19. During this search attending members located 87 marijuana plants and 11 pounds of packaged marijuana.

The Castlegar and Trail Crime Reduction Units continue to aggressively pursue any illegal activity within the cities of Castlegar and  Trail to ensure the safety of the communities. Anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity is urged to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
