A driver has been charged with following too close after a rear-ender in Robson on Friday morning.

The call came in that an accident had occurred on Broadwater Road outside the Tempo, or Johnny’s Grocery, at 11:37 a.m. and Castlegar RCMP and firefighters responded to the scene.

“One vehicle stopped to make a left-hand turn into Johnny’s gas station and a second vehicle failed to stop and struck it from behind,” explained Const. Mike Robinson.

The constable said he hasn’t found that area to be particularly bad for vehicle incidents, but a staff member at the Tempo, who witnessed the incident, but didn’t wish to be identified, said it’s the second rear-ender they’ve seen in a little over a year.

They and two other staff members at the gas station believe that the speed limit along Broadwater Road between the Lion’s Head Pub and the Tempo should be lowered to 30 kilometers per hour to reduce the chance of accidents.
