Castlegar Fire Department crews had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate a trapped driver after a truck and SUV collided on 18th Street near Dairy Queen around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio says none of the people involved in the incident appeared to be critically injured. One woman was transported to hospital by ambulance.

The collision occurred shortly after another nearby incident. About a block away, a tractor-trailer caught a low-hanging Fortis BC power line in the 1800 block of Connors Road. CFD also responded to that incident and Fortis crews were still on site when the collision happened.
