Drugs and weapon earn raft of charges for group

Suspicion had been aroused in Castlegar, suspects apprehended in Grand Forks

Castlegar RCMP, on February 6 have issued the following press release describing an incident involving drugs and a weapon.

On February 1, 2014 at 8:30 PM, Castlegar RCMP received a complaint relating to a passenger of a vehicle who was observed to be pointing what appeared to be a firearm. Police road blocks were set up throughout the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment area in efforts of locating this vehicle. At 9:17 PM, the suspect vehicle  came through a road block set up in Grand Forks, B.C.  Members of Grand Forks RCMP and West Kootenay Traffic Services arrested four occupants and seized a significant amount of packaged marihuana. A firearm was subsequently located near the road block and seized by police.

A 44 year-old Wycliffe man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.  He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Court later on March 6, 2014 in Rossland, B.C.

A 29 year-old Surrey man has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Pointing of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and is scheduled for Court later today in Rossland, B.C.

A 23 year-old Port Moody woman has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in a controlled substance, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm. She is remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in Court on April 8, 2014 in Grand Forks, B.C.

A 30 year-old Penticton man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. He is scheduled for Court later today in Rossland, B.C.

The matter is currently being investigated by the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment General Investigative Section.
