By the end of the week there should be fewer cars swerving on Columbia Avenue.

The uneven ground at the railroad crossing near 17th Street has been a frustration for Castlegar drivers for quite some time and drivers are frequently seen trying to dodge the bumps at the crossing.

City crews will be making repairs to smooth the uneven transition on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Drivers can expect delays on Columbia Avenue as traffic will be single lane, alternating, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city says these upgrades are also part of their preparations for winter.

An alternative route is available between north and south Castlegar via the Kinnaird and Robson bridges.
