Fatal crash causes Castlegar power outage

The incident knocked power out in north Castlegar Tuesday

A fatal accident was the cause of the power outage that affected north Castlegar on Tuesday, Dec. 20, according to Castlegar RCMP.

A vehicle struck a power pole in the 3200 block of Columbia Avenue around 6:30 a.m. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they discovered a deceased 65-year-old man in the vehicle.

Police did not release the name or home town of the man.

The incident is still under investigation by the BC Coroner Service, but it is suspected that the man experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision.
