Fire causes $50,000 damage at Sandpiper Motel

A fire on Sunday caused $50,000 worth of damage to the Sandpiper Motel in Castlegar.

The Castlegar Fire Department received notification of a structure fire at the old Sandpiper Motel in the 1100 block of Columbia Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Eighteen members of the department attended the fire. There were no injuries either to occupants or to firefighters. The cause of the fire is still under investigation with damage estimated at $50,000.
