A fire destroyed the Crossroads Printing building in downtown Castlegar Wednesday.

The Castlegar Fire Department responded to a call around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Crossroads Printing building located in the 1000 block of 2nd St.

Fire chief Gerry Rempel was on scene within four minutes of receiving the call but found the structure already fully involved. Firefighters worked hard to control the blaze and keep it from spreading to neighbouring structures close by. Three fire trucks and about 15 fire crew attended, with one firefighter receiving a minor injury. The business has not been open for several years. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
