The Fireside Inn in Castlegar hosted an Affordable Housing information session on Friday. Aimee Ambrosone from CBT and Dana Locke from B.C. Housing gave a power point presentation and then answered questions from the nearly 50 people in attendance.

The initiative is funded by CBT (Columbia Basin Trust), the provincial government, and the federal government.

"It's an initiative to create new supply of affordable rental housing in the Columbia Basin," said Ambrosone. "We're talking about the current request for pre-qualifications where communities can submit their proposals for projects in their communities to receive funding through that initiative."

The initiative was announced in March of this year. The information sessions are taking place in April throughout the basin area.

"We are asking for submissions to be received by May 30 in this call for submissions," she said. "There will be a second call for submissions next Spring."
