Temperatures throughout the month of May were unseasonably cool at the Southeast Fire Centre in Castlegar.
The mean monthly temperature was more than two degrees below normal, and was the coolest mean monthly temperature since 1996.
Last month was also the first time that temperatures failed to reach at least 25 degrees Celsius at some point during the month of May since 1977.
The highest temperature of the month came on May 3 at 22.5 C. The lowest was 0.9 C on May 12.
Total rainfall was 18 per cent below average despite there being four more days than normal with measurable rain. Rain fell on 20 days.
