Five candidates for rural Castlegar area school board byelection

Byelection for SD20 will take place in January.

Five people have put their names on the ballot for the upcoming school board byelection.

A byelection to replace Teri Ferworn, the Kootenay-Columbia School District 20 representative for the rural area surrounding Castlegar, will be held Jan. 25.

Voters in RDCK electoral Area I and part of Area J including Pass Creek, Shoreacres, Thrums, Glade, Tarrys, Brilliant and Ootischenia will be voting one representative in to complete the remainder of the school board’s current four-year-term which began in November 2018.

Jennifer Burton, Nicole Hergert, Holly Martin, Talin Verigin and Karen Waldal will be vying for the one available position.
