Four Castlegar residents have been arrested for alleged drug trafficking after search warrants were executed on two Castlegar homes, according to Castlegar RCMP.

On May 18, police executed the warrants in connection to an active investigation into drug trafficking.

The first search was done at a house in the 2600 block of 5th Avenue. A 63-year-old male and a 57-year-old female were taken into police custody without incident at the residence.

During the search investigators seized suspected cocaine, items consistent with the trafficking of illicit drugs and Canadian currency.

The second search was done in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue. A 56-year-old female and a 62-year-old male were taken into custody without incident.

The search of the second residence also yielded suspected cocaine, items related to drug trafficking and Canadian currency.

All four individuals were later released on bail conditions, with a first appearance scheduled for Castlegar Provincial Court on Sept. 20.

Castlegar RCMP say they are continuing their investigation into possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The matter will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Services for full charge assessment.
