A Fruitvale man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a Feb. 12 arrest at the summit of Bombi Pass on Highway 3.

Castlegar RCMP reported finding two men in a stolen grey Volkswagen with a large quantity of suspected illegal drugs and an extra catalytic converter while they were conducting patrols in the area.

David Redding (50), was charged with possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a release order as he was on court-ordered bail conditions not to occupy a driver’s seat of a motor vehicle at the time of his arrest.

Redding appeared in Castlegar Provincial Court on March 8 and pleaded guilty to several charges. He has been sentenced to 60 days in jail and given a one-year driving prohibition plus a $500 fine for driving while prohibited. For possession of stolen property under $5,000, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail. He was also given 30 days in jail for breaching his release order.
