Man drowns near Christina Lake

RCMP press release -

On August 9th, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. a report was received by Grand Forks/Boundary RCMP that

an adult male subject was in his canoe on Moody Lake cutting weeds out of the lake.

(Moody Lake is a man made lake on Private Property located approximately 3 Kilometers West of Christina Lake, B.C.)

The subject fell out of his canoe and attempted to climb back but then disappeared under the water.  He was not wearing a Life Jacket or Personal Flotation Device.

B.C. Ambulance and Christina Lake Fire and Rescue was called to the scene.   The subject was later located approx. 50 feet from shore and about 8 -12 feet under the water's  surface.

The B.C. Coroner Service has taken over as the lead agency in this investigation.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending Notification of Next of Kin.  He was a 78 year old Christina Lake Resident.
