Mercer Celgar announces controlled burn near Castlegar

The company is cleaning up wood and bark debris

Mercer Celgar will conduct a controlled burn of debris tentatively scheduled for Monday.

The company said in a release that it will burn wood and bark remaining from a spring dewatering project that removed pulp logs from Arrow Lakes.

The burn will take two days to complete and may be rescheduled if smoke venting conditions aren’t ideal.
