The BC Coroners Service has confirmed a body found near Slocan on Sunday was that of Victoria Aguilar, 63.

The Slocan woman was reported missing by family members on Jan. 7, when they were unable to make contact with her for several days. A search at the time yielded no results.

On Sunday, a passerby walking near the Slocan River spotted Aguilar’s body in an open area about three kilometres south of Slocan. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death. Foul play has been ruled out. It was noted that Aguilar liked to go for long walks in the area.
