Motorcyclist taken to hospital after crash - UPDATE

A male motorcyclist was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries on Friday after colliding with a mini van.

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries on Friday after colliding with a mini-van. The accident occurred on Highway 22/Columbia Avenue near Blueberry Road by Kal Tire in Castlegar.

"On May 18, 2012, at approximately 0850 hours, an elderly male was traveling south bound in a mini-van on the 3900 block of Columbia Avenue and proceeded to make a left hand turn onto Wade Road," said Cst. Plotnikoff in an RCMP media release. "The man turned left onto Wade Road and his vehicle was struck by a motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the passenger rear portion of the mini van and the male driver was thrown off his bike. The motorcyclist was taken to Trail Regional District Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The van driver did not suffer any injuries."

No charges have been laid at this time as the matter is still under investigation. The Castlegar RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact the Castlegar RCMP at 250-365-5516.
