A Nelson man was arrested Tuesday after police found drugs and cash at his residence.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Nelson Police Department said it stopped the man in his vehicle as part of a drug investigation. A search warrant on the man’s residence discovered drugs and cash, as well as a late model vehicle that was also seized.

Police didn’t say what or how many drugs were seized, but did say it was a large enough amount for the department to recommend trafficking charges to Crown counsel.

Six people died of toxic drug poisoning in Nelson in 2020, and 13 total between 2016 at the start of the opioid crisis in B.C. to the end of 2020.
