No injuries reported in semi-SUV incident near Castlegar

Collision on Highway 3 Tuesday could have been much worse

At approximately 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 Castlegar RCMP, fire and ambulance personnel attended a vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and an SUV.

The SUV was stopped at the intersection of Columbia Road and Highway 3, when it attempted to turn left onto Highway 3. The SUV failed to yield to a DCT Chambers chip truck that was traveling west on Highway 3.

There were no injuries reported, however the SUV had extensive damage. The driver of the SUV was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield to a vehicle, contrary to Section 127 (1)(a)(iii) of the Motor Vehicle Act  which holds a $167 fine.
