Pass Creek grow-op shut down

Close to 700 plants growing in clandestine operation

On July 25, 2012, members of the Castlegar Detachment Crime Reduction Unit with assistance from Castlegar Detachment General Duty and Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment GIS executed a search warrant issued under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act on the residence and Quonset hut located on a rural property on Cherry Lane, in Pass Creek, BC. The police located indoor and outdoor Marihuana growing operations containing a total of 680 Marihuana plants . Three loaded firearms were also found and seized.

A 26 year old female suspect was arrested on scene and later released. A 32 year old male suspect turned himself into the Castlegar Detachment and was subsequently released by police. Both suspects are expected to make a first appearance in Castlegar Provincial Court on September 5, 2012.

Police expect to lay charges of Production of a Controlled Substance under Section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and several charges under the Criminal Code relating to loaded firearms against both suspects.

Castlegar Crime Reduction Unit continues to target prolific offenders, drugs, and violence related crime in an effort to make the community of Castlegar, BC, a safer place to live.
