Over the last two weeks Castlegar RCMP say there has been an increase in residential thefts. Police say these thefts have occurred throughout the day and later evening, primarily in the central and north part of the city.

The suspect(s) appear to be targeting property left outside, or property from unlocked sheds and garages, stealing power tools and other possessions, police said. For some of the reported incidents, surveillance footage shows a thin, middle aged man travelling entering yards.

RCMP are asking you to ensure tools and other equipment are stored indoors, and that sheds and garages are locked. If you see a suspicious person in your yard or your neighbours’ yard, contact RCMP at 250-365-7721.
