Police officers from units in Trail and Castlegar arrested four people in two separate raids earlier this week, seizing more than 1,000 marijuana plants in the process.

Members of the RCMP's Castlegar and Trail Crime Reduction Units first raided a home in Glade on Tuesday afternoon.

Cpl. Darryl Orr of the RCMP's Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment said the officers executed a search warrant at about 3 p.m. and found 942 marijuana plants inside the home on Division Road, as well as additional harvested marijuana. Two men were arrested and face drug-trafficking charges.

Then on Wednesday morning, officers executed another search warrant, this time at a home in Trail. Orr said officers found 84 marijuana plants in the Lookout Street residence as well as harvested marijuana.

An adult couple was arrested and they, too, face drug-trafficking charges.

Police estimate the total value of the marijuana seized in the two raids at $250,000.
