VANCOUVER - Premier Christy Clark has released the following statement:

Premier Christy Clark

Office of the PremierThe holidays are a time for family. In B.C. families come in all shapes and sizes - like Hamish and me. But it's also a time for hope. And hope is one size fits all. This year communities like Prince George, Burns Lake and Johnsons Landing experienced unimaginable tragedies. Yet they always had hope. Hope to rebuild. Hope to recover. Their hope to see past their challenges is typical of the spirit of all British Columbians.

British Columbians like Christine Sinclair who displayed resilience to lead Canada to Olympic Bronze despite a heart-breaking loss. British Columbians like our Grade 4 students, along with their parents and teachers, whose commitment has resulted in the best reading scores in Canada. And British Columbians like our medical professionals. Because of their relentless dedication, B.C. leads the world in cancer outcomes. This spirit is what built B.C. and will help us overcome our future challenges.

In my house we say Merry Christmas. To all British Columbians, I extend my warmest wishes for the holiday season.
