Public’s assistance wanted to locate a missing woman

The RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Sophie Dowsley, 34, of Vancouver.

The RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Sophie Dowsley, 34, of Vancouver.

Sophie was last seen on July 8, 2017 by staff members of a business in the 100-block of Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs.

Sophie is described as:

· Caucasian female.

· Height: 170 cm (5’7”).

· Weight: 65 kgs (143 lbs).

· Hair: Blonde.

· Eyes: Blue.

RCMP investigators believe Sophie and a friend were hiking a trail near Statlu Lake after leaving Harrison Hot Springs. On July 18 the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was deployed after the friend’s body was located by Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team searchers at the base of a waterfalls.

“Police, family, and friends are asking anyone hiking in the Statlu Lake region on July 8 who may have seen Sophie, noticed hiking equipment or, personal articles left along a trail, to contact the Agassiz RCMP,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.
