Commuters using the Glade ferry should plan for possible delays when travelling for the next week or so.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is doing some work on the ferry’s approach ramps from April 9 to 19.
While most of the work will be onshore, it could cause some delays for ferry users.
Glade is on the south shore of the Kootenay River, about 10 kilometres east of Castlegar.
The ministry says the work, which will mostly be done in the evening, will allow the ferry to better accommodate trailers, RVs and other vehicles with low overhangs.
“If any service changes are needed to the posted schedule, [the public] will be advised well in advance through the regular means of communication: Facebook, terminal signage and DriveBC,” a ministry official told the Castlegar News.
Glade II is one of the ministry’s newest inland cable ferries, having entered service in early 2018.
