The Robson Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fire in the 1100 block of Zaitsoff Rd. in Robson Sunday night.

Firefighters in Robson were called to put out a fire at a residence in the community on Sunday night.

“At approximately 10 p.m. July 29th, RVFD received a call for fire and smoke showing at [1111 Zaitsoff Road],” said Robson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeff Grant. “RVFD arrived on scene to find a self-ventilated fire showing from approximately the middle of the single-family mobile home.”

The fire was quickly put out with the help of Pass Creek and Ootischenia fire departments, says Grant.

The occupants weren’t home at the time of the fire. The fire was called in by a neighbor who heard the smoke detector going off.

“This is a classic example of how important smoke detectors are, and should serve as a reminder to everyone to make sure theirs is in operating condition,” added Grant.

One fire fighter sustained an injury and was transferred to Trail hospital to be checked out. The fire fighter has been released and is in good condition.
