Salmo boy narrowly escapes abduction

A 13-year-old Salmo boy was able to get away from an abductor Wednesday morning along Highway 3.

The unknown male abducted the boy between 8:30 and 9 a.m., but the boy was able to scream and flee to the Salmo RCMP detachment.

The suspect is described as male, mid 30s, 5’8” with a slim build, dirty blonde hair, goatee and crooked front teeth. He was wearing square plastic rim sunglasses, a black leather jacket, blue skinny jeans and black leather boots that came to the shin. He also smelled like cigarettes.

The suspect’s vehicle is a light blue older model full-sized Dodge van with rust on the wheel wells. The licence plate is from Alberta.

The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Highway 3 out of Salmo.
