The board of directors for School District 20 have decided not to rename Twin Rivers Elementary School.
The decision was made at a school board meeting on Monday, April 11, where the board considered whether or not to rename Twin Rivers Elementary School and Castlegar Primary School as Twin Rivers Elementary School – Columbia Campus and Twin Rivers Elementary School – Kootenay Campus.
Teri Ferworn, chair of the board, said that ultimately it wasn’t what parents and students wanted, so the board voted against it.
“The [Twin Rivers Re-Naming] Committee recommended that the number one choice would be to leave it alone,” she said.
