Low powered tremor gives West Kootenay a gentle wake-up nudge

 

The slight jiggling of structures in the West Kootenay-Boundary this morning was not anyone's imagination.Earthquakes Canada confirmed this morning what folks across the region strongly suspected – it was indeed and earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3.

The tremor occurred just after 5 a.m. PST and was centred nine kilometres northwest of Omak, Washington, about 100 kilometres south of Osoyoos.No reports of damage had been received by the agency, but the gentle shaking was reportedly felt in Castlegar, Grand Forks, Kelowna, Rock Creek, Penticton and other South-Central B.C. communities.
