It felt more like a gathering for a rock star than a politician as federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau arrived to Lakeside Park late Sunday afternoon to a throng of admirers.
Exiting Streetcar #23, the newly elected leader was greeted by more than 300 locals who jockeyed for position in an attempt to shake Trudeau's hand and mug for a photograph.
Trudeau spent almost an hour at the waterfront park. As his two young children headed for ice cream and the playground, the 41-year-old aspiring prime minister gave a short speech, signed autographs and chatted with all those who made it to the front of the crowd.
