Boxing Day incident hospitalizes one with non-life threatening injuries

Jaws of Life were employed to free the driver of one of the vehicles involved in Dec. 26 incident.

Police, fire and ambulance personnel were quickly on the scene just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26 along the south/west approach to the Brilliant Bridge outside Castlegar.

A collision had occurred between a Toyota pickup with once occupant and a Subaru wagon with three occupants.

Police on the scene reported that the pickup had lost control leading to the collision with the Subaru with had been heading in the opposite direction.

"Speed and road conditions may be contributing factors," stated an RCMP spokesperson, "...no alcohol involved."

The Jaws of Life were used to extricate the Subaru driver who was then transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
