Vandalism continues to be problematic for several downtown businesses. On Saturday, vandal(s) struck at the Castlegar Public Library and at the downtown Kootenay Savings Credit Union branch.

The incident is not thought to be linked to the vandalism from the weekend before (Dec. 9) which saw Mountain FM, Castlegar Library and Propertyguys.com have their doors and windows sprayed with black spray paint.

A representative from the Castlegar RCMP says they do have a suspect for the earlier vandalism case. A 64 year-old male who has already been charged for similar vandalism cases in Trail recently.

"The Castlegar RCMP continues to investigate the possible link between the Trail incidents and the ones that occurred in Castlegar with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section. The investigation is ongoing," said Cpl. Deb Postnikoff of the Castlegar RCMP in a recent press release.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Castlegar RCMP.
