The 2022 municipal election is just about over with the final opportunity to cast a ballot happening this Saturday, Oct. 15.

Residents of Castlegar can vote at the Castlegar & District Community Complex (located at 2101 6th Ave.) from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Oct. 15.

There is also one more advance voting opportunity on Oct. 12 at the Castlegar & District Community Complex (located at 2101 6th Ave.) from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

The time frame to request a mail-in ballot has already expired, but if you have one and have not mailed it in, you can still deliver it in person. Mail-in ballots will be accepted at City Hall until 4 p.m on Oct. 14. As a last resort, mail-in ballots can also be delivered by hand to the polling station prior to 8 p.m. on Oct. 15.

If you have not already registered to vote, you may do so on voting day by producing at least two pieces of acceptable identification (one of which must have your signature) and providing proof of residency or property ownership.

More details on voting regulations can be found at castlegar.ca.

Two mayoral candidates — Maria McFaddin and Lawrence Chernoff — are on the ballot.

Seven candidates are vying for six council seats. The council candidates are Darcy Bell, Brian Bogle, Sandy Bojechko, Shirley Falstead, Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff, Cherryl Macleod and Florio Vassilakakis.
