Work continues on the second phase of the Columbia Avenue redevelopment project in Castlegar. Last week contractor Copcan focused on paving the bottom lifts from existing pavement between 23rd and 24th streets, installing banner poles, and landscaping and irrigation work. Next week, you can expect to see preparations for asphalt driveway tie-ins, installation of an Allan Block wall, raising the manhole and water valve covers before final paving, and landscaping and irrigation work within boulevards done by Arrow Professional Landscaping and Al-Va Irrigation.

According to the City of Castlegar, the contractor is anticipating traffic will increase early in September and is working on solutions to keep traffic flowing and minimize delays. The project has been underway for six months and is scheduled for completion in late September.
