With deep regret, we the family of Alex Naychuk announce his sudden passing from heart failure at the age of 80 years.
Alex was born in Slocan Park, BC on September 9, 1940. It is also where he received his early schooling.
Alex is survived by his loving wife Patsy of 58 years, his son Chris (Roderica) and daughters Lisa (Len), Lori (Jason) and Lynn. His grandchildren Jordan, Eric, Alex, Kate, Zoe, and Sara.
He leaves behind his brother Peter (Debbie) and family from Fort St. John, BC, as well as his sister, Mary (Jack) Voykin and family from Castlegar, BC, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Alex was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Helen, as well as his sister Ann and two brothers Joe and Louie.
Alex retired at 62 after working 42 years at the pulp mills in Castlegar, Gold River and Prince George. The last 25 years as Supervisor Steam Plant Engineer before retiring in Castlegar.
He was a compassionate and caring man who loved his family, friends, and his community. A great host and he loved his dog Sam! He had a passion for politics and a need to have knowledge on all levels.
A family viewing was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel following a graveside service at Kinnaird Cemetery where he was laid to rest on June 12, 2021.
The family would like to thank all the first responders, previous health professionals as well as the staff at the funeral home for being so helpful. Many thanks to family and friends for conducting the graveside service and to Paulette and Harry Markin for their great advice and knowledge. Thanks for the many flowers, food baskets and cards with kind words.
Alex will be missed. Rest in peace.
