Allen David Carmichael

February 27, 2010

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Allen David Carmichael after a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer. He was just 50 years old. Allen will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife Angie Carmichael, children Jeffrey, Stephanie and Dana, brothers Bryan, Steven and Darin and their families, grandparents David Carmichael and Ellen Childs and his best friend Wayne Greenall. Starting with paper planes, then balsa wood windups, Allen's passion for flying solidified when he joined the Air cadets and earned his wings. Allen was a glider instructor and early in his career he was a flight instructor. In 1986 Allen joined Time Air Airlines as a commercial pilot. Industry reorganization landed him with Air Canada where he ascended to First Officer on the Airbus 330, his favorite airplane. When not flying Allen enjoyed many activities but particular favorites were sending off hot air balloons and rockets and skimming across the water on his catamaran. Thank you to the caregivers at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks where Angels are working everyday.
