Angelo Silveira Jorge

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Angelo Silveira Jorge on

August 5, 2009.

Angelo was born in Santa Barbara, Pico, Azores, on December 2, 1931. He moved to Canada in 1957 and resided and worked in Nakusp, BC. In 1962, Angelo married Marcelina, his beloved wife for the next 47 years and they moved to Castlegar. He worked at the Castlegar Sawmill until his retirement in 1994.

Angelo was a wonderful, friendly, quiet man who loved spending time with his family. He spent many retired hours in his garden, going for long walks with his wife and traveling.

Angelo was one of nine children and was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

He will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend Marcelina, his daughter Angela, son Fernando (Dorothy) and three grandchildren, his pride and joy, Ashley, Taylor, and Olivia, as well as many extended family members.

Vigil Prayers were held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church on Sunday, August 9, 2009 with Father Martin Bettin, OFM officiating and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church with Father Marin Bettin, OFM presiding.

Arrangements were in care of Castlegar Funeral Chapel.

Friends and relatives may make donations in Angelo’s name to Heart and Stroke Foundation C-01, Castlegar Unit, PO Box 3023, Castlegar, BC V1N 3H4 or to Canadian Cancer Society, Box 3292, Castlegar BC V1N 3H6.

We sincerely thank all family and friends for all the love, support and prayers. He will be truly missed but will stay forever in our hearts.
