With great sadness we announce the passing of Anne Rilkoff of Robson, B.C. She passed away at home at the age of 88. She was the youngest child and only daughter born to the late Anne (nee Maloff) and George Soukoroff of Pass Creek on June 11, 1927. She married William (Bill) Rilkoff in 1947 and they made their home in Raspberry before moving to Robson in 1959. When Bill passed away suddenly in 1980, Anne, hardworking and fiercely independent, stayed on at the acreage. Even though the cows, chickens, orchards and huge gardens are now long gone, her grandchildren still affectionately refer to their fond memories visiting “the farm”. She was a devoted Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, an avid gardener, a bird watcher and a wonderful storyteller. She loved politics, the Vancouver Canucks, did crosswords in ink and made the best apple pies. A very private person, she was especially kind, gentle and sensitive. She was predeceased by her much adored brothers, Bill, George and Fred; and, by her loving husband Bill and son Bill Jr. She is survived by her sons Wally of Prince Rupert and Ed (Melissa) of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; her daughter Lorene of Robson and her daughter-in-law Jay of Kamloops; grandchildren Karyn (Jon) of Lions Bay, BC, Michael (Patti) of Chelmsford, Ont., Megan of New York, NY and Drew of Boston, MA; great grandchildren Maeya, Finnan, Carver and Roan; sister-in-law Vera Zoobkoff of Kelowna; and, many dear nieces and nephews. By her wishes, there was no formal service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
