Anne Soukeroff passed away peacefully, at Talarico Place, Castlegar, BC, on Wednesday evening, November 24, 2010 with her loving children and sister Vera, at her side. She was born on June 16, 1930 in Perry Siding, BC, to John and Grace Popoff. Anne was the youngest in a family of 12 other siblings. In her later teens, she met George Soukeroff from Shoreacres, BC. They fell in love and married on August 23, 1953.

Anne and George lived their entire life in Shoreacres, where Anne was happy being a loving wife and mother raising 4 children. Her husband passed away from an illness in 1981 and a year later her first grandson, Nathan, was born, followed by Max, Colin, Leighton and Travis. Anne was a loving Baba to each and every one of her five grandsons. In 1989, Anne began her travels to Mexico for the winters. Anne met the second love of her life, Bill Kastrukoff in 1991. Bill and Anne spent the winters in Bucerias and upon returning to Shoreacres in the spring, they would begin their travels in BC and Alberta visiting grandchildren, family and friends. In the fall of 2006, Bill passed away. In early 2009, Anne was diagnosed with a stomach illness. The medical care given was the best one could hope for and it gifted her with two more years.

Anne is survived by her children: Dan Soukeroff, Nelson, BC; Evelyn (Lawrence) Voykin, Castlegar, BC; Jerry (Lisa) Soukeroff, Salmon Arm, BC; Vickie Surina, Trail, BC.

Her beloved grandsons, Nathan, Max, Colin, Leighton and Travis.

As well her brothers and sister: Andy Popoff, Perrys Siding, BC; Mike Popoff, Kamloops, BC, Vera Popoff, Talarico Place, Castlegar, BC.

Anne is equally missed by her extended family and grandchildren, Barb and Darryl Meagher, Tyrell, Brady and Kaylee of Edmonton, AB. Finally, Anne’s many loved nieces, nephews and friends near and far. Anne lived and believed in a simple way of life, to always live within your means, to be humble, kind and caring to others along one’s path of life. Her home was always open to everyone. As a family, our hearts are filled with the sadness for our loss until we meet again, but our love for Mom, remains ever eternal.

Donations to the BC Cancer Society or the Iskra Publication will be graciously accepted. Castlegar Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
