Tony was born in Blairmore, Alberta to Mary and Stephen Giza. Tony was a very hard worker who started at a young age. He worked in coal mines, hard rock mines, on highway construction and building dams. He was a jack of all trades and ready and willing to help anyone at any given moment.

He served in WWII and when he returned home he married Mary Yakubiec in 1945. They moved to Ymir where they raised their 6 children .

His passions included hunting, fishing, carpentry/woodworking, painting, golfing, gardening, playing crib and story telling.

He was best known for his gruff exterior and his big personality but underneath that he had a kind and generous heart.

He was very fortunate to be able to live independently in his own home up until a few months ago. His stubbornness and inventiveness enabled him to do so.

He was predeceased by Mary Giza, his parents, all 7 of his siblings and son-in-law Roger Birk.

He is survived by his children:

Carol (Don), Sharon, Faye (Lloyd), Marilyn (Jerry), Brenda (Ross), Tony (Lynn), Grandchildren: Jacqueline, Loralie, Wade, Jamie, Elena, Eugene, Michelle, Brandon, Adrian, Justin, Aaron, Tamarah, and Allisia. Great Grandchildren: Jamis, Zayne, Darren, Cayden, Zackary, Reid, Payton, Sawyer, Hendrix, and Linden.

The family would like to thank the following: home support, especially Tamarah for her wonderful care; the Salmo Royal Canadian Legion Branch #217 and the Ladies Auxiliary for providing the luncheon; everyone who attended the luncheon; family and friends who provided food, cards, flowers, comfort and support during this difficult time.

Tony will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched, leaving a void for many.
