– August 21, 2013

The family of Blanche Doris Brown sadly announces her passing on Wednesday August 21, 2013 in Trail, BC at the age of 92 years. Blanche was born May 21, 1921 in Vancouver, BC. She married John Brown in 1948. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, particularly whist and crib, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, and bowling. She had many bowling trophies to show for her love of the game. Her favorite pastime was dancing. Blanche and her husband John would delight in going out dancing every Saturday night. They travelled to Legion halls all over British Columbia and Alberta and cherished their Saturday night dancing. Blanche was still taking part in the dances at Castle Wood Village every Saturday night. Blanche and John moved many times over the years. From New Westminster they then moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, back to Surrey, Penticton in the Okanagan, and Hope, BC. They moved to Sandalwood Court in Castlegar in 1997. Blanche and John could frequently be seen at the Castlegar Legion. Blanche said goodbye to her loving husband of 55 years when he passed away in December of 2003. Blanche moved in 2010 into Castle Wood Village in time for her 90th birthday celebration which was held there in May 2011. She made many friendships during the time she resided there.

Blanche is survived by her daughters Diane Tricker and Janet (John) Blakeman. Grand-children Darryl (Rhonda) Tricker and great grandchildren Milann and Dawson of Edmonton, Alberta; Dusty (Kathy) Tricker and great grandchildren Israel and Cody of Nelson, B.C.; John Eric and Stewart Blakeman of Maple Ridge, BC. Nieces and Nephews - Lynn, Denise, Scott, and Verne.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 2003 and more recently, by her sister Ruth.
