It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian MacKay, on January 24, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born November 30, 1936 in Nelson, British Columbia to parents Roy and Evelyn MacKay.
Brian was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge since 1972, and loved fly fishing and working on cars.
Brian loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, his dog Ladybug, and being at Christina Lake. He had a huge heart and helped foster children over the years giving them a home.
Brian is survived by his children, three sons Bob (Carm), Brian, Gord (Julie), daughter Robyn, and grandchildren Jarrod, Jordan, Sydney, Adam, Ashley, Heather, Tammy, Kelly, and Megan, six great-grandchildren Hailey, Max, Kipanga, Mason, Isabella and Emily.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the amazing and wonderful staff at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for the care they provided for Brian, to Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services and Castlegar Funeral Chapel for the arrangements, Celebrant Reverend Elizabeth Huether and to all our family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held February 1, 2020 at 11 am, Castlegar Funeral Chapel, 411 – 9th Avenue, Castlegar BC.
