Carol Ford passed away suddenly on January 29, 2009. Carol was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and after graduating from Lucky Lake High School went on to become a Registered Nurse at the Humboldt Hospital in Saskatchewan. She worked as a nurse in hospitals and extended care facilities in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Carol married her husband Jim, on October 10, 1970 in Edmonton. Alberta. They moved to Castlegar in 1973 and raised three daughters, Leah, Shauna, and Jennifer plus numerous pets.


Carol shared her wonderful sense of humour with each of her girls. . As a mother she was always fun and always looking for a prank to play. She also loved animals and truly believed that each and every animal deserved to live and most of them to be loved. From baby mice, to dogs and cats, and the pot bellied pig Hamton, she loved them all. This love of animals has been passed onto her three daughters.


She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jim; daughters Leah of Fort St John, Shauna (Ian) Moore of Burnaby, Jennifer (Daniel) Fodor of Castlegar. Carol is also survived by three grandsons Morgan and Connor Fodor and Tristan Moore.


Her sister Karen (Cliff) Kvale of Macrorie, Saskatchewan and their daughter Valerie of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She is also survived by her brother Harold (Marie) of Saskatoon Saskatchewan.


Carol was pre-deceased by her mother Shirley in 2006 and her nephew Jesse in 2001.


A celebration of Carol’s life took place at the Castlegar Community Complex on February 5, 2009
