January 21, 1947 - June 2, 2022
It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family of Carvil Moorey announce his passing on June 2, 2022 at home. He was born on January 21, 1947 in Miami, Manitoba.
Carvil met Linda just after she moved to Taber with her family from Calgary. At the time, Carvil was a police officer and Linda fell hard for the handsome man in uniform. The two tied the knot on September 2, 1967.
Carvil started his insurance career in Taber, Alberta. In 1971, he started his own insurance agency in Sparwood, BC called Moorey Insurance. A year and a half later, Carvil took an opportunity to join and purchase Anderson Insurance in Castlegar, BC.
Castlegar became home for Carvil and his young family as he integrated himself into the community through his involvement with the Castlegar Selkirk Lions club.
Carvil and Linda's love for Arabian horses brought them to Ootischenia in 1979 where they could build the home and barns they always dreamed of having. Being a rancher at heart, Carvil was drawn to raising livestock as well as bringing the Castlegar Selkirk Lions Rodeo to town.
During his years as a Lion, he was an active volunteer for many community events such as the Trade Fair. Carvil ran a successful tree farm for many years and enjoyed the adventures involved in delivering the trees to the prairies with a crew of close friends.
With his son, Carvil loved spending time at the Moorey Ranch helping with calving, haying and enjoyed his time in the seat of his big orange tractor. With his daughter, Carvil enjoyed working on backyard projects that invited family gatherings and areas to enjoy the Ootishchenia sunshine and make memories.
Carvil is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda as well as his children, Scott (Treena) and Lisa (Nathan), his grandchildren, Shailynn, Austin, Ty, Nolan, and Lyla. He is remembered affectionately by his sisters Barbara and Brenda and their families of Taber, Alberta.
Carvil was laid to rest on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Park Memorial Cemetery in Castlegar, BC. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A celebration of Carvil's life will be held at Castlegar's Community Complex on July 3, 2022 from 11am-1pm. Personal messages and condolences can be posted online at www.castlegarfuneral.com for the family.
