September 1, 1934 - August 29, 2022
In loving memory ~
With great sadness we are announcing the passing of Charles Salisbury (Chuck) at age 87. Born on Sept 01, 1934, he passed on August 29, 2022. Chuck was born as the youngest of 6 children to father (Charlie) and mother (Ellen) and grew up in Saltcoats, Sask, where they raised their family on a farm. Chuck moved to BC in 1954 where he met Dorothy his wife. They were married and had 4 wonderful children: Michael, Patrick, Laurie, and James.
Mike and his wife Jennifer are in Hawaii, and daughter little Jenn in Powell River; Pat and partner Gitta May, with children Chase and Paige are based in Powell River; Laurie and husband Bill Henne with children Alexandria, Elizabeth, Victoria, William, based in Christina Lake; James (pre-deceased in April 2022) with wife Hiedi, children Hope, Faith, Chance, Destiny and Marshall live at Powder King Resort.
Following the loss of brother Jim, losing Chuck as well is a huge loss for our family.
Chuck travelled around the province working on big dam projects. He was a 40 year member of the operating engineers. He retired and moved to Christina Lake where he enjoyed his visits with his kids and grandchildren. Chuck loved his winters in Yuma and summers at Christina Lake. Chuck was also a very strong communicator. Every Sunday he would call his kids and check in on them to listen and to share his love. Chuck loved to call all friends and family as he was a chatty fellow.
After the passing of his wife Dorothy, he met Olive "Mickey" Perkins, and moved to Grand Forks. The two of them made a beautiful couple travelling, snowbirding to warmer places, gardening, and Chuck's favourite sport: dancing. Chuck was very proud and happy with Mickey and often said he was a very lucky man to have such a great second chance at life.
Thank you Mickey for the support and love and kindness you shared with dad, especially as his health began to fail. We all love you like a mom! Thank you Mickey!
Chuck will be laid to rest in the Grand Forks Evergreen Cemetery, along with a celebration of life in Grand Forks sometime next summer.
