July 8th, 1922 - November 1st, 2016
Christine Beatrice Strachan passed away November 1st, 2016 at the age of 94 years. She was born in Sweden, July 8th, 1922 to Johan and Axia Roos. At the age of 9, she along with an older brother and younger sister came to Nelson, B.C. to join her parents who immigrated earlier.
Christine married Bob Strachan in 1942. They raised two daughters, Karen and Roberta while operating a dairy farm which is now part of the Granite Pointe golf course in Nelson. Christine was a private person who held a kind heart, a special love and connection to animals and a terrific wit which only got sharper with age! She possessed a larger than life green thumb that allowed her to turn any space into a public garden. Her last few years, which were spent at Talarico Place were enjoyed largely because of its incredible staff with too many names to mention.
Christine is survived by her daughter Karen Batchelor (Tom), grandchildren Connie McIntyre, Carrie Croteau, Stacie Martini (Clay) and Jason Batchelor (Kayla), 13 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, brother Eric Roos and sister Darlene Adams. She was predeceased by her daughter Roberta, husband Bob, brothers Fritz, Mauritz and Johnny Roos and sisters Eva Unser and Lucille Milller.
The family would like to extend its sincerest thanks and appreciation to both Dr. Merrit and Dr. Larocque, Castlewood Village and Talarico Place for their loving and compassionate care. Words simply cannot express our gratitude.
