May 23, 1940 - September 11, 2020
It is our sad duty to report the sudden death of Christine Elizabeth Apperson of Castlegar on September 11, 2020 at her home.
Christine was born in London, England to George Apperson and Ellen Griffin. She was the second youngest of 7 siblings.
After finishing high school she went to work for the Bank of England in a position that was normally not held by a woman. She was a member of the Bank of England Rifle Club and represented the bank at competitions.
In the early 1970s she moved to Canada and continued to work in the financial sector in Vancouver and Calgary. While in Vancouver she met her husband, Fernando (Dino) Zucchetti. Later they moved to the Thompson and Kootenay valleys where they built their own houses, grew their own vegetables, and had easy access to hiking and cross-country skiing.
In 2009 they moved to Castlegar. She had a keen interest in partisan politics and volunteered for every provincial and federal election since coming to Canada. She was predeceased by her husband Dino Zucchetti, her parents, George and Ellen Apperson; sisters, Agnes and Theresa; and brothers, James and George. She is survived by sister Mary of England, brother Joe (Lesley) of England, and many nieces and nephews of England, Spain, and Australia.
We would like to thank the many people who helped Christine over the last years to stay in her home. There will be no service as per her request.
"sorely missed but never forgotten".
