With sad hearts the family of Christine Engen of Castlegar wishes to announce her passing at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, on Sunday, February 16, 2014, blessed with 74 years of life.


Christine was born Christine Barabanoff in Nelson on September 19, 1939. She married Wesley Engen and the couple raised two children. She worked as a cook in different restaurants and mainly in a camp. Christine enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and spending time with her family. She was a proud member of the Hospital Auxiliary and of the Seniors’ Centre. Christine was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Not a single second, minute, hour or day will go by, when she will not be loved and will never be forgotten.


Christine was predeceased by her husband Wesley.


Left to mourn her loss is her daughter Fran (Ray) Croteau; her son William; her granddaughters Amber and Crystal Stewart; her great-grandsons Anthony, Jeremy and Jamie and her many friends.


There will be no service by request.


Cremation has taken place in care of Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
